Another Frosty post

Good Morning Thursday!!!

Isn't the kids and Frosty the cutest??!! I love it!
I am stitching it on 28 ct. Opalescent Cashel Raw linen, perfect for Christmas designs.
I found the fabric at http://www.anitalittlestitches.com/, she always has super fast shipping.

I preordered the Blackbirds A Stitchers Journey, she has it for a really good price. I knew I had to have it when I heard it was a collection of their class and retreats projects. And if your a scissors freak, OMGosh!! she has alot and some very unique ones at that, go check it out

Here is a pic of the Frosty Christmas Stocking for the ones who never seen it before. I think I am about half way done.

I am on the fence about getting a piece framed.
I have ATS which has no glass and Villages that has conservation glass
So my question...

Do you prefer glass in your framed pieces??
And why?

Thank You to everyone who visits here and even more for taking the time to comment.

The stocking is going to be so cute....
I prefer glass, museum glass is what I have put in...for protection agains t dust and the look is like not having any glass...very little reflection.

That stocking is adorable!! I love BOAF's designs--I sooo wish they were still designing. Their people are always cute without being cutesie.

I do use glass on my pieces. I use regular glass with spacers, but use conservation glass if I know a piece might fade because of where I plan to hang it. Both Days of Advent and ATS have conservation glass.

Your stocking is gorgeous Ranae.

I like to frame my work behind glass to keep it clean, and I like to use non reflective glass.

What a lovely design!
Great progress!!

I love to have glass in my piece, so it won't get dirty!!hihi

Love both your pieces. I almost never use glass. I like to see the texture of the stitching and I think glass kind of obscures that. But I'm not worried about preserving my work for eternity either.

Frosty is looking wonderful! I love BOAF's people!

I prefer to use conservation glass on my stitched pieces, unless they are in a very tiny frame. I think it protects the stitching from all the dust and dirt that is just in the air (and green pollen too!).

Fantastic progress on your stocking! So cute!

I have my pieces framed with glass.

The stocking is awesome...and now there will be more people to beat on ebay :)
Anyhooo...I have pieces both with and without glass. However my big important lots of time spent pieces I use museum glass to protect them from dirt and fading...plus no glare, so it is like there is NO glass on the piece...I have them USE spacers too.

If I could afford it, I'd frame everything with conservation glass. It's that or no glass for me, unless I'm gifting a smoker (and then I go for regular glass to protect it from the tobacco).

Frosty is TOO CUTE!!

I love your BOAF stocking! I love all BOAF designs!

I use conservation glass and spacers on all my stitching. The glass protects the stitching from dust and fading. I think with conservation glass you can still see the texture of the fabric and stitching and yet, it is protected - love it. For me, the cost of conservation glass is well worth the additional cost.

Great progress but I think your first photo may be libellous ;D

I don't often use glass on my work

Your BOAF stocking is coming along great! I frame almost everything with glass to protect it from dust and the sun/light a little better.

Cute!! And so funny :D I really like it!!
I prefer not using glass. I think stitches look more 'natural'.. prettier :) But of course, no one will be putting their hands on it, it's on the wall. Maybe it will get some dust in 30 years but well.. I don't intend to save them forever and ever :p I take care of my works but I also like to enjoy them in the present ;)

oh my goodness!!! Those kids and snowman are adorable!!!!!!!! How exciting!

I like glass better. It just looks more finished to me.

Hey, are you still planning to come to stitching on the 27th at Inspired Needle??? Hope so!! We would be so thrilled if you came!

Looking good!!!! :)

The answer to the glass question for me is...........it depends. I tend to NOT use glass on the more 'simple' designs like Bent Creek, etc. but I do use them for more intricate things like Shepherd's Bush, etc. On those types of things I go for the whole works: velvet mats, spacers, double mats, glass - everything. But I like the look of a simple piece with a simple, basic (read: flat), antiqued wood frame without glass. It seems to 'fit' better than the whole works. But that's just my personal preference and what fits my personal 'design eye'. If you want to preserve it for a longer time, then glass is the way to go. :)

Cute stocking!!!! I love BOAF :-). I have glass on everything, it's so dusty where I live but I will say when I see a piece framed without glass I really like it too.

This is just adorable! You just want to pinch their cheeks!

I use glass in my framing mostly because I don't have to then worry about dusting! ;-)

Your stocking gets cuter and cuter, Ranae! I rarely use glass except on a big, time-consuming piece (like CatHRH). I just like how the stitches pop out so nicely on pieces that I haven't used glass on. I have pieces that are 20+ years old and they seem fine even though they haven't been framed under glass.

Excellent progress! I prefer glass to no glass, makes the piece look richer, keeps it clean from grimy hands and dust-free. Also, I think that it just 'finishes' it. Especially the bigger pieces, like ATS, put glass on it for sure.

You have been stitching some great pieces lately. I'm totally in love with your little BOAF Valentine pillow. And Frosty is so sweet that I can't wait to see this project finished.
I'm in a battle with myself at the moment - I absolutely want to buy the new BBD book, but on the other hand I havde all their previous books and haven't stitched a lot out of them yet. So do I need the new book? No, not really ... but I want it, lol.

Love it!

It depends on the size of my pieces and whether I use a mat or not. The bigger pieces definitely have glass on them. I'd say those two of yours should have glass.

Your stocking is darling! Love BoaF so much and wish they were still designing.
I do put glass on most of my pieces, but I have done some without as well. I just like the look of glass better. On some of my bigger pieces I've opted to leave it off so it doesn't "distort" the design. Hope all is well! Hugs to you.

LOve that stocking girl. It is just so cute and different.
I have my pieces that hang in AZ behind non glare glass because of the dust. At home, no glass at all. I prefer to be able to touch and see the pieces.
And I am not convinced that behind glass really saves the fabric.

I love your frosty piece. About half of my pieces are under glass and I wish they ALL were under glass. We heat with a wood stove so there is always dust and soot (you can't see it but it's there).

Oh WOW!!! the little wee folk are wonderful, i wonder what they are singing as they dance along holding hands?? What a wonderful stocking, i hadn't seen that one before Ranae.

I have glass in my framed pieces, it keeps it clean.

I love the stocking design. I personally prefer glass - needlework seems unfinished if there is no glass there.

The stocking is very cute! I prefer the look to a piece under glass. I have them both ways and the ones without just don't look finished to me!

Lovely progress on the stocking, it's going to look fab when it's finished.

sorry I can't help much with the framing as I've only (badly) framed one finish and it's behind regular glass

I always choose glass...to keep my stitching from getting dusty and dirty.
